Blue Jays’ Encarnacion strikes again

Edwin Encarnacion hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to break the game open as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Minnesota Twins 6-3 on Friday night.

Tallet fighting through aches and pains

Left-hander Brian Tallet had a better outing in Toronto's 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. He allowed a single and a walk in the eighth, but was able to escape with a strikeout of Johnny Damon and a fly to right by Miguel Cabrera.

Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston dropped Aaron Hill to the eighth spot of the batting order on Wednesday, hoping the change might take some pressure off the slumping second baseman.

Times wires Monday, August 23, 2010 TORONTO Jose Bautista hit a two-run homer then added a tiebreaking solo drive in the eighth inning for his 40th of the season, and the Blue Jays beat the Yankees 3-2 on Monday night. It was the sixth multihomer game of the season for Bautista, who leads the majors in home runs.
